Event Details

Enhance your cocktail making abilities through science! Gin is a botanical spirit, flavored with many different herbs, spices, roots, and berries. It is also a loosely-defined spirit category, which has led to an explosion in different styles of gin with the boom of micro-distilleries. In many cases, the botanicals that give gin its flavor are not disclosed, or at least not highlighted, and this class is intended to remove the veil from this often proprietary knowledge.

The class price includes a kit containing 5 gin botanicals, both raw and tinctured versions, and samples of commercial gins that exemplify these flavors. Kits can be picked up at Castalia during the week preceding the event during our regular hours.

This class is targeted toward the cocktail enthusiast that wants a deeper look at the science behind cocktails. We will spend less time on cocktail making, and more time on the understanding the basis of why spirits and cocktails work.

This is a virtual online class limited to 10 connections, but multiple people can participate at each connection. Ingredient kits are sized to provide the equivalent of 2 cocktails to 2 people. The meeting link will be provided the day before the class via email.
